Why Donate Towards Our Feeding Programmes?

Worldwide, there are more than 690 million people who suffer from chronic hunger. Extreme food insecurity brought on by severe poverty will mean these people might go days without eating. The aim of our feeding programmes is to alleviate hunger and food insecurity using both short-term and long-term interventions.

Covid-19 is worsening the hunger crisis in many countries all over the globe, pushing already food-insecure families to the brink of starvation. According to the UN, the effects of coronavirus could double world hunger. Covid-19 could possibly bring on another global pandemic, a hunger pandemic. Our hunger relief programmes are now more important than ever to help people fight the effects of hunger and malnutrition as they try and protect themselves from the coronavirus.

Moreover, one in ten people will go to bed hungry every single night – that’s 161 million more people than last year. With soaring food prices, and livelihoods decimated by the pandemic and ongoing conflicts, vulnerable people often have no choice but to eat food without nutrients, eat insufficiently, or not eat at all.

He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbour to his side goes hungry.

How You Can Make A Difference

Food Packs

Volunteers handing out food packs in Gaza as part of an Emergency Appeal in a broken home.

In impoverished countries including Bangladesh, Somalia and Pakistan, deep-rooted poverty affecting large proportions of the population means that millions are food insecure, unsure of where their next meal is coming from.

Many of the country’s poorer people engage in daily wage labour which offers no security and were drastically impacted by Covid-19 and lockdowns as they were unable to work. Millions were facing their darkest days in the face of hunger and starvation, making impossible decisions about whether to eat, be clothed, or be clean.

Now, as the world is slowly emerging from the pandemic, many communities are facing huge rises in the cost of food and living, with many businesses also having closed and so unemployment also rising.

Young children holding hot meals from the feeding programmes package

Imagine waking up every morning with no food in the house, worried about where the next meal is going to come from for you and your family? Imagine going to bed, hungry, every single night having barely eaten that day. Imagine watching your child cry out from hunger.

Food is a basic necessity for survival and also the key to a healthy life. Without regular healthy meals children struggle to go to school, carers struggle to work, and communities are left battling to survive. However, you can help alleviate this terrible burden for millions of people by helping to provide hot meals for those in need and donating towards building food security solutions.

Qurbani/Aqiqah

Donate Now
Women with bags of meat as part of an aqiqah programme in Uganda.

During the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah we select the healthiest and of the correct age animals to perform your Qurbani on. The slaughtering process is carried out humanely and according to the Shari’ah ruling on halal, whilst the meat is processed in a professional, sanitised environment. Moreover, we observe the highest standards in packaging and transportation to ensure the meat doesn’t spoil before it reaches the poor.

The same process applied to Aqiqah where it should be performed seven days after the birth, with two small animals sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl. The meat is subsequently distributed to those in most need.

*Small animals consist of a goat or a sheep. Large animals consist of a cow unless otherwise stated.
