Important Information

How does Qurbani Work?

Those who are eligible to give Qurbani must either sacrifice an animal or make a donation equivalent to the value of a sacrificial animal on the 10th, 11th, and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah (after special Eid prayers). Monetary Qurbani donations go towards purchasing/rearing animals that can be sacrificed in poor communities so that everyone can enjoy a nutritious meal and the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Traditionally, once an animal has been sacrificed, it is distributed in three ways: a portion is saved for the person who has made the Qurbani donation, a portion is given to the donor’s friends/family, and the final portion is given to the hungry and less fortunate. However, due to the regulations of some countries, many Muslims will donate to a charity like As-Salaam Foundation to carry out their Qurbani and all the shares are provided to the needy.

There are different schools of thought on whether and whom Qurbani is compulsory for, and you should speak to your local Imam for confirmation. Qurbani provides families in need with necessary food for the celebration of Eid, and your donation, if you are able and eligible to make one, is gratefully received.

Qurbani is Fardh. Qurbani is expected by every non-disabled Muslim who has reached the age of puberty and for everyone that meets the rules of Zakat. There are different schools of thought on who Qurbani is Wajib for, and you should speak to your local Imam for confirmation.

Every eligible Muslim should provide one share of Qurbani, and parents should provide a share in the name of their children. One small animal, such as a goat or sheep, is equivalent to one Qurbani share, while a larger animal, such as a cow or camel, is equal to seven shares and can be split between seven individuals. Qurbani rules for husbands and wives state that a husband does not need to give a share on behalf of his wife if she has her own money but can do so if they choose to.

Qurbani donations that have been missed in previous years can be made up this year by making contributions for additional Qurbani shares.

When following Qurbani Eid rules, cutting hair and nails isn’t permitted from the start of Dhul Hijjah up until the sacrifice has been made, as per the words of the Prophet (ﷺ) “When you see the new moon of Dhul Hijjah and one of you desires that he offer a sacrifice, then let him keep his hair and nails.”

Eid al-Adha is expected to begin on Wednesday 27th May 2026 and end on Friday 29th May 2026 in the UK or Saturday 30th May depending on the sighting of the moon.

Your Qurbani with As-Salaam Foundation

We understand the importance of quality sourcing from hard-working farmers and we work closely with our partners to ensure Qurbani animals are raised healthily and according to Qurbani rules. Our teams on the ground will ensure every needy family can enjoy a nutritious meal for this Qurbani Eid with their share of the Qurbani donation.

We use your donations to carefully select animals that are suitable for Qurbani and carry out the sacrifice on your behalf. We make sure that the Qurbani is done on the days of Eid and that the fresh meat is delivered as soon as possible so that the needy can enjoy the blessings of Eid.

A small animal counts as 1 share. A large animal counts as 7 shares.

Deadlines for Qurbani donations are subject to quotas filled.

Qurbani’s in Jordan will be done for the Palestinian and Syrian refugees in refugee camps near Mafraq.

Please provide a name when donating your Qurbani.

Prices have been rounded up, any surpuls money will be used for charitable purposes.

Placing Your Order

Upon placing the order and payment, a receipt will be assigned and issued to the customer/donor on behalf of whom the Qurbani is to be conducted.

If a large animal is selected on behalf of several (up to seven) donors intention should be made by all, however name and contact details of only one person needs to be provided at time of placing the order.

The amount per animal/share is rounded off to the nearest round figure taking into account fluctuating conversion rates and other costs. Any surplus amounts (if any) will be used for other Qurbani related expenses or another charitable cause. Our ground staff will act as the representatives on behalf of the donors in purchasing, specifying, conducting the Qurbani and then distributing the meat.

Moderate and healthy animals are purchased for Qurbani in light of the Shari’ah regarding defects and age restrictions.

For ease and so that all orders are centralised, we only accept donations through this payment page.

Sacrificing Your Animal(s)

The Qurbani will be carried out within the three days of Qurbani. The meat is cut and distributed by our team to families in deprived and poverty-stricken areas.

In the unlikely event of an unexpected issue arising in purchasing the animals or in conducting the Qurbani, we will contact the donors before or on the days of Qurbani.

All efforts will be made to carry out Qurbanis in the selected country, however in the unlikely event of any issue arising, Qurbanis may be carried out in a similar price zone and any donor will be informed prior or after the Qurbani takes place.
