The earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria were the worst disaster the region has seen in over eight decades.
The devastation was overwhelming: more than 55,000 lives were lost, hundreds of thousands injured, and millions of people displaced. Entire cities were reduced to rubble, families were torn apart, and survivors were left exposed to bitter cold without homes, food, or medical care.
For Syria, the impact was especially catastrophic. After over a decade of war, its economy and infrastructure were already in crisis. Hospitals and relief systems were stretched thin, and millions were already dependent on humanitarian aid before the earthquake struck. In Turkey, the destruction was vast, with whole communities flattened, forcing millions into makeshift shelters.
We could not stand by in the face of such suffering. With the help of our donors and volunteers, we deployed emergency relief teams to both Turkey and Syria. Together, we delivered critical aid, including:

In total, £40,000 was spent on emergency aid, ensuring that thousands of families received lifesaving support during their most desperate hours.
The impact was life-saving. Families who had lost their homes found warmth, nourishment, and comfort in their darkest hours. Medical and hygiene support helped prevent further suffering, while food assistance sustained survivors until longer-term aid could reach them.
