You Supported Us in Spreading the Message of Islam in Nevis
Nestled in the Caribbean, the serene island of Nevis is a hidden gem known for its unspoiled beaches, lush landscapes, and warm hospitality. However, while it boasts a rich cultural history, the Muslim community on this island remains small and underrepresented. With Islam being one of the fastest-growing religions worldwide, our mission was to extend its light to Nevis, fostering understanding, unity, and spiritual growth during the holy month of Ramadan 2025.
Nevis has a population of approximately 12,000, with a majority following Christianity. Known as “The Queen of the Caribbean,” Nevis is renowned for its pristine beaches, Mount Nevis, and historical landmarks. The island places great emphasis on education and community values, making it an ideal place for introducing Islamic principles of compassion, charity, and unity.
While Islam has touched the Caribbean, the presence of Muslims on Nevis remains minimal. Many locals have little to no exposure to the teachings of Islam or the beauty of its traditions. Nevis has a vibrant cultural history, influenced by various civilizations. Yet, Islam has had limited interaction with its people, making it fertile ground for da’wah and the spread of faith. Ramadan offered us with a unique opportunity to engage hearts, build connections, and inspire change through the beauty of Taraweeh prayers and Islamic teachings.
Ramadan 2025 on Nevis
We sent a team of dedicated Hafiz-ul-Quran to Nevis with two primary objectives:
- Lead Taraweeh Prayers: our Hufaaz organised and led nightly Taraweeh prayers, bringing the unique experience of the Quran’s recitation to the Muslim community and beyond. This also strengthened the spiritual connection of the community with Allah.
- Teach Islamic Principles: Alongside leading prayers, the team conducted classes and interactive sessions on Islamic teachings, providing education and fostering spiritual growth for both Muslims and non-Muslims alike, providing a deeper understanding of the faith.
This was more than just a Ramadan project—we left a lasting legacy, not only transforming the lives of Muslims in Nevis today but pave the way for future generations to benefit from the guidance of Islam.
“The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” – Surah Al-Hujurat (49:10)
