Rebuilding Lives After the Record-Breaking Pakistan Floods
The devastating floods in Pakistan left a trail of destruction unlike anything seen in recent history. With over 1,700 lives lost, more than 1.2 million livestock drowned, and 7.9 million people displaced — a number greater than the entire population of Lahore — countless families were left homeless, vulnerable, and uncertain about their future.
From Tents to Homes: A Step Towards Stability
In the wake of this catastrophe, many displaced families found shelter in temporary tents. While these offered immediate relief, they are not a sustainable solution. Exposure to harsh weather, lack of privacy, and insecurity make it difficult for families to begin rebuilding their lives.
To address this, As-Salaam Foundation has introduced the construction of single-room huts. These huts serve as an ideal replacement for tents, providing:
-
Warmth and shelter from the elements.
-
Privacy and dignity for families struggling to recover.
-
A foundation for rebuilding lives, giving families the stability they need to take the next step forward.
A Village Rebuilt
Through the generosity of our donors, we are proud to share that we have already built 30 hut homes — creating an entire village from the ground up. This achievement has given dozens of families a safe place to call home, restored dignity, and created a sense of community for those who had lost everything.
How You Can Help
Each hut costs just £300 to build, yet the impact it creates is priceless. With your support, we can continue to rebuild Pakistan — one family, one home, one community at a time.
Together, we can transform despair into hope and temporary survival into long-term recovery.
