Supporting Marriages and Health in West Bengal – Completed
Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated countries, with a population of 161 million, yet it faces some of the highest rates of extreme poverty. Many families, particularly women, struggle to afford basic life events, including marriage. Over half the population are female, and for many, poverty prevents them from starting a family with dignity.
Thanks to your generosity, we raised £2,100, enabling us to hold marriage ceremonies for six young women in West Bengal, at a cost of £350 per bride. Each newlywed couple received essential items to begin their married life, including:
-
Double bed, mattress, and blanket
-
Bedding and utensils
-
Double wardrobe
-
Sewing machine
-
Clothing
In addition to supporting these families, we also organised a cataract eye camp, providing medical treatment to many patients and restoring sight to those in need.
Your donations have transformed lives, giving these women and their families hope, dignity, and a fresh start, while also addressing critical health needs in the community.
