Sri Lanka Live & Livelihood Deployment
Our Sri Lanka Live & Livelihood Deployment reached some of the most vulnerable communities across four districts, bringing urgent relief while also helping families rebuild their futures with dignity and hope. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, hundreds of struggling families received life-changing support in food security, healthcare, education, water access, and sustainable livelihoods.
Food Aid
Hunger remains a daily reality for many families living in poverty. Through this deployment, we distributed 500 hot meals to individuals and families facing immediate food insecurity, as well as 300 food packs containing essential staples for households struggling to survive.
For many recipients, this support meant parents could feed their children without having to skip meals themselves. It meant elderly people and widows no longer going to sleep hungry, and families gaining temporary relief from the impossible choice between food, medicine, and other necessities. These food distributions brought comfort, dignity, and hope during difficult times.
Healthcare Support
Access to healthcare is extremely limited in many poor and rural communities. During this mission, we provided 20 commode wheelchairs to individuals with mobility challenges, helping restore independence and dignity to vulnerable patients and their caregivers.
We also conducted a comprehensive eye care camp, where free eyewear was distributed to those suffering from poor vision. Patients identified with cataracts or more serious conditions were referred for further medical treatment. In addition, community members received full health checks, with any concerning medical conditions forwarded to appropriate healthcare services for ongoing care.
This healthcare support transformed lives by allowing elderly individuals to regain mobility, enabling adults to continue working, helping children see clearly in school, and ensuring untreated illnesses did not continue to worsen in silence.
Back to School Support
Education is one of the strongest tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. We distributed school bags, stationery supplies, and lunch kits to 500 children across three underprivileged schools.
For families already struggling to afford food and daily essentials, school supplies are often out of reach. Many children attend school without proper bags or basic learning materials, making education even more difficult. By providing these packs, we helped children return to school with confidence, motivation, and the tools they need to learn.
This support reduces the financial burden on parents while giving children a greater chance to stay in education, pursue their dreams, and build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Water and Sanitation
Clean water remains a major challenge in many underserved areas. Through this project, we established five new water sources and constructed a large community well, giving families safer and more reliable access to clean water.
Before this intervention, many women and children spent hours walking long distances to collect unsafe water for drinking and household use. Contaminated water contributes to illness, missed school days, and financial hardship caused by preventable diseases.
These new water sources now provide communities with cleaner water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation, improving overall health, reducing waterborne diseases, and saving valuable time for families — especially women and children.
Empowering Communities Through Livelihoods
Beyond emergency relief, this deployment focused on helping families become self-sufficient and regain long-term stability.
We distributed:
- 10 electric sewing machines to support women in earning an income through tailoring and garment work
- 10 canoes to fishermen, helping them continue their trade and provide for their families
- 60 goats (1 male and 3 female goats each) to 20 beneficiaries, enabling families to breed livestock and generate sustainable income
These livelihood projects are more than donations — they are opportunities for independence. Women are now able to start small businesses from home, fishermen can return to work and support their households, and families receiving goats can build long-term financial resilience through breeding and livestock income.
For many beneficiaries, this support represents the beginning of a path out of poverty, restoring dignity, confidence, and hope for a more secure future.
